Since the late 1970s, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race has proudly had the distinction of being the world's largest 10K. The tough 6.2-mile course takes runners from Lenox Square in Buckhead all the way to the new finish line at the intersection of Juniper and Ponce de Leon in midtown Atlanta, along the way forcing competitors to contend with two massive uphill climbs. Though this is a PRRO-sanctioned event (the total purse is $83,100), experienced runners of all skill levels are welcome to submit entry forms. The first 45,000 applications received are automatically accepted; the remaining 10,000 are selected randomly. |
